i went to Madurai from Coimbatore on 8th may for business purpose. As the same is finished by 3.30 pm i went to temple at 4.15. i have been in the queue for about 2 hours to worship the god.
The waiting time is OK but the experience when inside the temple premises is horrible and intolerable. There is no any volunteer/ police inside to control the crowd. As most of the people are tourists they rush front side to see quickly in spite of the sweat they had with their crying kids. many aged people suffocated in the sandwich of crowd. Though we are able to see the god only less than 3 minutes, the sweating came before that made to think about the worst maintenance of the authority. Let them collect money but the control should be there for peaceful pray. let the authorities do needful about this in near future.

Just back from a trip to Madurai. I was amazed to see this development around the temple, it was really beautiful and I felt free to walk around the chithirai street. Very nice.

I did see these on my last trip home. And when i make my next trip in Feb, it sure is going to be a sight to see. And ofcourse, all the mud and sand,,is so integral to the place that it cant be the same without it...!!

Reserved parking...well, yes. That should be considered. Especially, some kind of help for aged people still wanting to visit the temple.

Nevertheless, thanks for the post !
